The Top Advertising Moments Of Super Bowl LIV

It was all about the power of celebrity at Super Bowl LIV. At least on the commercial breaks, that is.

And if this was any indicator, brands are only doubling down on influencer partnerships in 2020.

The ultimate outcome of the Miami-based match-up was a come-from behind win by the Kansas City Chiefs over the San Francisco 49'ers.

But let's talk about the commercials.

This year's event flexed a strong crop of advertising muscle. From the one-of-a-kind opening montage, to Miami Vice inspired graphics, and can we talk about that half-time show by Shakira and J-Lo!?

With a 30-second television spot costing $5.6 million, there's a lot of dough on the line to leave a lasting impression.

HYUNDAI'S "SMAHT PAHK"

Boston-born actors Chris Evans, Rachel Dratch, and John Krasinski hit home with this one. With their exaggerated accents and witty quips, this nod to Boston was smart and memorable. It's one that I'm sure we'll be quoting for months to come.

HULU AND TOM BRADY

We can all be sure now. Tom Brady is not retiring. What began as the quarterback's farewell letter to the NFL, turned into a subtle taunting of his competition. And, in an ad so well done, even the biggest skeptic couldn't help but respect him. Coordinated with this perfectly timed tweet.

AMAZON'S BEFORE ALEXA

Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi stared in this funny bit asking: What did people do before Alexa? It featured a historical montage of scenarios involving common voice-activated commands. My particular favourite was having the maid "turn down the thermostat" by chucking a flame-engulfed log out the window.

DORITOS' THE COOL RANCH

Sam Elliot in a Western dance-off with Lil Nas X, featuring a cameo by Billy Rae Cyrus... say no more!

GOOGLE'S LORETTA

Tissues please. This love story, featuring an elderly man asking his Google Assistant to save memories of his late wife, really tugged on the heart strings. Tears were shed.

WAL-MART'S FAMOUS VISITORS

Toy Story, Star Wars, and Martians were just a few of the sci-fi references in this spot. The laugh-out-loud moment came with the recreation of the moment in Arrival when the humans try to communicate with the extraterrestrial creatures. Only this time, they asked: "Glass cleaner?"

ROCKET MORTGAGE'S MOMOA AT HOME

Had anybody heard of Rocket Mortgage before tonight? Well, thanks to Jason Momoa, an evidently very talented creative team, and the help of some digital manipulation that allowed Momoa to shed his muscle, now you have.

HYUNDAI GENESIS' YOUNG LUXURY

In another celebrity-driven spot from Hyundai, powerhouse couple Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were, well, just themselves. Hilarious, sassy, and memorable.

BUD'S TYPICAL AMERICAN

An ode to the U-S-A. Wait, do I want to be American after watching this ad? No, I'd never want that. But wait, do I?!

Honourable Mentions: Turkish Airlines' The Journey (directed by Ridley Scott), Reese's Take 5Pringles' Flavoured Dystopia with Rick and Morty.
